Tunnel 7 Launches New Websites For Clients

Over the past couple months I launched two new projects and have been doing more consulting work, which I have found to be very enjoyable. Here is a quick update on my recent work.
Lamcotec
Lamcotec is an industry leading manufacturer of high performance barrier fabrics. I worked with them to redesign their website from the ground up, paying particular attention to the information architecture of the website to simplify the main navigation. Once that was done I then designed the page layouts to accommodate anticipated future growth. A major concern for the client was search engine placement. For this I copyedited all the content on the website and placed keywords in areas search engines pay closer attention to. I am working with the client now on the next phase of the project.
In Pursuit of Giants
Author Matt Rigney is in the process of writing In Pursuit of Giants and wanted to get the word out. I worked closely with him to develop this one page website in a very short time frame. My focus throughout was to develop elements that could be reused when we make the transition from one page to a more developed website. Visitors then will easily recognize the branding and imagery from the one page version and make this eventual transition a smooth one.
Consulting Work
Recently I have been asked by clients to do more consulting work. One client developed these great photoshop comps and knew they wanted to build their website with standards, but their in house team was struggling with standards based coding. I was brought in to define the xhtml / css structure to be used, wrote code to get them started and am still working with them to keep them pointed in the right direction.
Two other clients contacted me about rebuilding their existing websites with standards based code. They both recognized that the old, table-based code was hurting them from a search engine standpoint and their maintenance was a headache. The look and feel for both these projects had to remain the same. For both I was able to exactly recreate the look and feel of the website and changed only the code. In both cases the new code was 50-80 percent leaner and the design and content were successfully separated, which makes the rebuilt websites search engine friendly and much easier to maintain.
This recent consulting work has been rewarding, particularly because these clients are recognizing the benefits of website standards. This is very nice to see!
