APEx 2009 Conference Launches Website

Published on Jun 09, 2009

The annual APEx Conference will take place in Boston this October.  This international event attracts visitors from all over the world to discuss topics related to power generation.  The new website features a design featuring an autumn color palette and uses the Boston skyline to connect users to the location.  Aside from learning about the event and the area, users can also register online for the event through a secure, encrypted form.

I worked directly with the conference organizers to design and develop the new website. Domain registration, hosting, SSL setup and email setup were also completed as part of the project.  This project uses the ExpressionEngine content management system.

Why Web Standards?

Simple visual consistency

Because content and style are separated a style change made in one location affects content across the entire site.

Better search engine results

With the code being much more compact, search engines can easily read content and will display better results for you.

Website maintenance less expensive

With visual appearance controlled by a single file maintenance becomes a breeze. No more changing dozens of individual pages.

Accessibility to all devices

Cell phones, pdas, screen readers — a standards based website will render better in these than a traditional tables based website.
